Absolutely! Our advice is that if you really feel that they need to boost the lashes and would like to use a lash serum you should do so for 2-3 months - for example, before a big event or summer holidays (it takes about 4-6 weeks to see the results of using a lash serum) and then after that they should discontinue use for at least 6 months to give eyes a chance to recover and to avoid getting sensitised to the product.
Top tips for using lash serums safely
- The most important tip - only use them at night, right before you go to sleep. That's the safest way to protect your eye health - since your eyes are closed and not blinking (which is how the product gets onto your ocular surface). Even if they say it's safe to use day and night, only use them last thing at night.
- There are many products that are just as safe and effective no matter where they're made or how they're made but lash serums is definitely not one of them! Use a reputable company only and a brand that you really trust - look for products ideally made in the UK or the European Union. Avoid any lash serums that are made in China because we're learning some pretty frightful things about what's in cosmetics manufactured in China.
- Make sure that you're really taking care of your eye health while using the lash serums - for example, this would be a good time to introduce a gentle protective lubricating eye drop or spray - to help fortify the tears and create that extra barrier between the eye and eye irritants in the lash serum -our Peep Club Instant Relief Eye Spray is of course my top choice!
