In our research and development we came across Cureberry (also known as Bilberry,Vaccinium Myrtillus) - a little known, but extremely powerful antioxidant (in particular anthocyanins). It is a cousin of the better-known Blueberry but, even more potent as an antioxidant. Cureberry is so effective at reducing fibroblast damage caused by the blue light emitted from our every day screens (laptops, tablets, phones) that we decided to add it to our Soothing Coconut Eye Balm.
Cureberry has been found to boost the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) produced within our skin cells - this can activate the natural defence mechanism of our cells which are essential in fighting off damage caused by blue light as well as other pollutants of our environment (smoke, smog) and stress. When applied topically, Cureberry can neutralise the free radicals released by blue light and stressors of our environment to reduce the damage they cause - protecting the delicate eye area from signs of accelerated aging (fine lines and wrinkles). In fact, it has actually been found to reverse some signs of damage if used regularly.
Just like Coconut Oil, Cureberry is extremely rich in fatty acids (with a well balanced Omega 3: Omega 6 ratio). This also makes it a wonderfully nourishing ingredient for the thin skin around our eyes. It can help fight dark circles and dryness at the same time.
